Socioeconomic Diversity

Yesterday we had a very interesting discussion (like always) about economy. Economy has affected every single one of us in one way or another. My mom had been working in a place for almost nine years, the company broke another bought it and she was laid off. She has been without a job for four months. The rest of the family has been affected in other ways but they all have a job. I have to watch on what I spend like shopping, food or just spend on what is necessary and not for pleasure. It was surprising to hear that family economy in not money. Also that conflict between couples in not about how much money the family has but that couples had different perspectives (views) of money. The meanings of money are status (source of power), security ( conservative in spending), enjoyment (satisfaction) and control. Maybe this whole issue on economy is a good thing, this way we only spend on what is necessary and not just because we don't know on what to spend. This way we will learn to make good decisions about money and spend it wisely.
