Decision-Making

I think that decision-making can be a very tough aspect in a marriage. It is sometimes very hard for couples to come to an agreement about stuff. The biggest thing they should learn to do is compromise. Unfortunately, this is hard for a lot of people to do. They don’t want it any other way than their own.

In my relationship with my boyfriend, decision-making hasn’t been too difficult for us. Pretty much every decision we make is done together. When it comes to what each other wants to do we usually both come up with ideas and then together decide what sounds like the most fun. For larger decisions that we have to make, the most important thing we remember is communication. We feel it is important to know how each other feels about the topic being discussed. Without strong communication, it is very difficult to successfully come up with a decision.

I feel that a lot of couples have trouble deciding on certain decisions they must make regarding their children. One parent usually feels one way as another parent feels a different way. The problem with this is they both come from different family backgrounds and they try to raise their children similar to the way they were raised.

Stressful decision-making is one of they main reasons why couples fight or even end their relationship. They have trouble finding ways to agree with each other. It is best to handle tough decisions that must be made in a calm fair way. Some decisions can be life changing and couples don’t know how to go about these situations.

I am very thankful that I have a boyfriend that compromises well and includes me in making decisions!
