Power

In class on Tuesday we were discussing the different types of power and after learning them i thought to different situations people see all the time. When we think of power we think of it being the person who has the most authority. But as we learned in class power can come from not only authority but also knowledge and skill. This comes particulary important when your working with a couple to know who has the power and why they have the power. To help someone in a situation where power is the problem you have to identify where it comes from before you can change it. If a couple has power problems because of knowledge you can explain to them that just because someone has more knowledge of a situation does not mean they have complete power of it. A relationship is between two people so therefore the power should be shared between the two of them.
